For generations, families have taken their children along the lights. And with numbers continuing to grow, it’s a tradition that’s very much alive and well. But if you’ve only seen the lights from a car window, you really haven’t seen them at all, so…

  • Catch a tram – you’ll avoid the traffic jams and get a spectacular view
  • Catch a heritage tram – some are open-topped. Some are rocket ships, steam trains or boats! The circular tours (which go right past Tiffany’s Hotel doors) start from the tram terminus at Sandcastle Waterpark
  • Go on foot – Head north to the huge tableaux at Bispham. Or head south from our Blackpool hotel and take time to explore the Tower Headland and town centre to get the most from Lightpool (see below).

The fireworks are launched from North Pier, but you’ll get a great view from most places along the promenade. If you’re staying in Blackpool with us for the weekend (a wise move as you’ll avoid the traffic) it’s just a few minutes’ walk to North Pier for the full effect, or avoid the crowds and take a 10 minute stroll north to Gynn Square.
